About This Act

Chic To Chic go to every length to capture the raw funk, soul & disco dynamics of Nile Rodgers’ music and bring it to life on stage.

Their energy packed show comes complete with costumes, fun crowd interaction and all of the trimmings that make a Chic to Chic live show so recognisable to Chic fans. It is this attention to detail that makes Chic To Chic the most authentic tribute band on the circuit today.

The set features all the hits Good Times, Le Freak, Everybody Dance and other Nile Rodger’s productions for Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, David Bowie, Daft Punk and many more! Chic To Chic will have you on the dance floor all night long.

Chic To Chic are our Band Of The Month for February. We caught up with them for a chat.

Whittles: Welcome to Chic To Chic, would you like to introduce yourselves?

(CTC)

There’s a few of us!
Deanna – Vocals
Kelly – Vocals
Sam – Guitar
James – Trumpet
Luke – Saxophone
Phil – Keyboards
Aidan – Bass
Harry – Drums

What’s the best gig that you have been to / enjoyed the most?

(CTC)

We had a fantastic gig in Eastbourne last year, at the bandstand that overlooks the sea. We lucked out with the weather and it was a beautiful evening. A perfect match for Chic’s summery vibes.

Any interesting facts about any of the Band members i.e.: Day time Job, other interests, achievements?

(CTC) We have such a mixture of jobs between us, ranging from full time musicians to video creators and architects. Kelly has had a legitimate Christmas hit, but you’ll have to ask her which one she’s starred in!

Have any of you played with any other famous bands / artists?

(CTC)

Between us, we’ve shared stages with Ed Sheeran, Corinne Bailey Rae, John Otway and even Chesney Hawkes (the one and only) besides a few others. Some of us were even invited to join Nile and Chic for the last song of their set a couple of years ago. That was a magical experience.

What’s the biggest audience you have played to?

(CTC)

Our horn players regularly play at St Mary’s Stadium before the teams enter, which is about 33,000 people. Besides that, some of us have played the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall in London. The stadium definitely wins it in terms of numbers though!

“Everybody Dance” Live

Which song do you like performing the most?

(CTC) Get Lucky always goes down amazingly, and the switch from Soup for One to Modjo’s Lady (Hear Me Tonight) is a nice moment when people hear the link between the two. Nile has worked with so many people that we really do love every song. Let’s Dance is another favourite, featuring our keyboardist Phil on vocals.

Which song is guaranteed to have everyone on their feet?

(CTC)We generally have the crowd on their feet from the first track, you can’t fail with Nile’s back
 catalogue!

What’s you guilty pleasure (music wise)?

(CTC)We spend a lot of time in cars and vans travelling the country, so the playlist covers a lot… We have a collaborative playlist which we all add to, so there’s usually a surprise or two en route. Nobody has yet admitted to adding the entire back catalogue of the Bay City Rollers, but we have our suspicions (looking at you, Harry….)

Finally, any message for the gig-goers of Oldham and what can they expect from your show?

(CTC) We can’t wait to meet you all! It’ll be our first time at Whittles and it’s such fun to meet people when we play at new venues. Make sure you bring your dancing shoes, and 70’s disco fancy dress is definitely encouraged…
